Garrett GTI 2500 Customer Review

As customer I though I would write a quick review of how I have found the Garrett GTI 2500 and Ace 250 metal detectors to be.

This post will focus on the GTI 2500 Metal Detector.Garrett GTI 2500 Metal Detector Review

My rating for this broken down into a number of areas I have highlighted below.

Pinpointing 9/10

I gave the GTI 2500 a nine out of ten for its pinpoint function as it seems to be on the money everytime and exactly in the middle of the coil even on very deep finds.

Dicrimination 8/10

Whenever I dug it always seemed to come up with the exact metal that the GTI said it would be. So when you are onto a coin you know its something good.

Weight 2/10

This beast is dam heavy! My first time out with it and a standard 9 inch coil nearly broke my back and made my arm fall off. The good news is you can detach the battery pack and put it on your belt. However I found the cord not to be long enough and to be irritating while picking up and putting down the unit while digging etc. It like being still attached to your mother with an umbilical cord. But then again if you are used to hunting with headphones its pretty much the same thing. The good news is that I now use a 12 inch monster coil on the GTI 2500 and even with that added weight I seem to be getting used to it. Your body will adjust and it may be good for fitness.

Treasure Imaging. 6/10

I had high hopes for the treasure imaging that gives you the size of the target in the ground before you dig.  It does work pretty well in terms of letting you know if you are onto a coin size or can size objects expecially if they are within 15 cm of the surface. As soon as you go deeper the imaging seems to be less accurate and at times does not display for the very deep finds. I do find this to be useful info when its working and has saved some time digging cans etc.

Depth. 7/10

I find that the GTI is picking up coins and the like pretty deep indeed. especially with the bigger coil. Iv gone as deep as 50 cm on coins! pretty dam good if you ask me.

Battery Life. 7/10

The batteries – 8x AA seems to last a good long time even when not using earphones. I think with earphones you will get good value for money here. However nothing will come close to the Ace 250 on Battery life.

Other things I found Useful on the GTI 2500 Metal Detector.

I very much like the Backlight on the unit – when it starts getting dark on a hunt a can push a few extra minutes in with the illuminated backlight. I definitely like the long scale of discrimination. About 24 different segments that identifuy types of metals. A longer scale like this compared to the Ace that has a 12 scale is very usefull in avoiding more bottle caps etc. I also very much like the ability to switch between all metal deep-seeking mode and normal mode at a touch of a button. (Deepseeking continuose tone does go deeper but does not seem to be as accurate when identifying type of metal – so swithching between the two is like getting a second opinion on your find).

Some of the endless other features like salt elimination, ground balance and a tone of others I have not yet had a chance to put to the test. So far Im happy with the Unit and I would recommend it.

The Garrett GTI also comes with an optional depth multiplier coil called a treasure hound. It will push up to 3x deeper with this attachment but I shudder to think how heavy this may be.

I hope this personal Garrett GTI 2500 Metal Detector Review helps you with your decision.

You will never regret getting into this great hobby.
