Please help, I have a Bounty Hunter iv after using the coil in water it keeps on giving signals espes when I move it to fast or bump it slightly, I had no problems previously , thanks Attie
Hi Attie,
Metal Detecting in the surf is where you will find the most false signals even if the detector is in perfect order. Iron and salt mineralization will cause numerous false signals and make this metal detector useless, especially on wet sand and in water.
It could be that you are experiencing this problem – I have myself in the black sand wet surf experienced this. Does your detector operate fine on land / dry beach sand? Does it only give these problems in the wet?
Your coil may be faulty in which case you can get a replacement coil – especially if the same problems exists on dry land.
If not it is probably just the mineralization in the wet black sand people experience in the surf. Sometimes its fine – sometimes not. Probably just the sand.
Also some machines perform very well in the wet. A unit like the Excalibur II should never give any false signals in the wet.
