What is a metal detector Pinpointer?
A pinpointer can take 2 forms:
1 The standard pinpointer tool: This tool is a miniaturized metal detector. These tools are small and pionty and fit into ones hand and are about the size of a cellphone with a thick aerial (see below). The point of the tool contains the miniature metal detector coil. When it is in very close proximity to metal it will alert you by sound or vibration. These tool are normally inserted into the hole you have dug where you think the treasure lies. You have dug a hole but cant find it or dont want to waste time looking. Placing the piont in the hole will lead you to the metal in the specific spot in the hole where it lies. Often times new metal detectors come with these hand help pinpointers attached to them so they are always at hand when required. When close to metal the pin pointer will increase its vibrations and beeps will become more continuous. In this way it guides you to the treasure.
2 The built in Metal Detector Pinpointer: This is a functionality that some most modern metal detectors have. at the click of a button you can get your metal detector to change to pinpoint mode. The detector will become very sensitive to the proximity of metal and will make a constant tone. This sound will get louder and clearer the closer your coil is to being directly over the target. You then draw an invisible X with your metal detector and locate the exact spot the treasure lies before you start digging.
Both of these pinpointing tools really help your efforts to cut down on digging and frustration.
