Metal Detecting in Singapore

Metal Detecting in Singapore

Metal Detector SA went on an adventure to Singapore and Australia and of course the detectors came along for the ride.Metal detecting Sentosa Island Singapore

Enjoy the read about metal detecting in Singapore:

First of all I decided to take my backup metal detector the Garrett Ace 250 because it is super lightweight – about 2.5 kg and small enough to travel with easily. Also along for the ride was the Garrett Pro Pointer without which I would have returned with 50% less finds.

Singapore is one of the richest cities in the world with tourist flocking and cramming into its amazing beach on Sentosa Island every year. Which means plenty of treasures lay in wait for us. Another lucky break is that no Singaporean knows what a metal detector is or is interested in it, the only people that detect these beaches are the few dedicated western tourists who come to Singapore to take advantage of this. We were doing the same.

Another big bonus is that the beaches are kept so clean and free of litter that almost no trash will be found to spoil the party. And a party it was.

Every step we took we found a coin, every 10 steps we found a ring or earring. It was absolute absurd metal detecting madness. We could spend hours in just one small patch on the beach!

We found over 50 Dollars about R350 in about 6 hours or so for the 2 days were at the beach and plenty of jewelry to boot! The spare change paid for all our cab rides around the city and snacks to go with it 😉

Day 2:

Latest Metal Detecting Finds

I’ll bet if you spent 4 full days combing the beach at Sentosa Island you would come up with 500 dollars easily! A good R3000.

Advice for detecting in Singapore.

If you are interested in Metal Detecting in Singapore take note, you may be stared at by locals totally confused by what you are doing. I definitely recommend going out in your beach kit like boardshorts and sunglasses and look as beachy as possible. The lifegaurds etc should leave you alone if you look like you have just brought a toy to the beach while you swim.

I also hear that you could get into trouble if you find an item that someone lays claim to. If someone says the ring or something else belongs to them and you did not make an effort to find the owner and cannot prove you made the effort then you could find yourself in trouble. Be sure not to pick up anything someone has recently lost or you think has an owner somewhere close and be aware of this if you are going to metal detect in Singapore.

NB – Do not even think about detecting anywhere other than the beach – You will probably be locked up and fined in 10 seconds flat. All land in Singapore is owned by someone and nobody will grant permission.

Have fun at the beach and don’t be a nuisance 😉 Riches lay in wait.

World War 2 Tank found in Lake

World War 2 Tank found in Lake

After 62 years of hiding in a lake this monster Russian T34/76A has emerged from its hibernation in pristine condition.World Wart 2 Tank found in Lake

The tank was purposefully driven into the lake 62 years ago by Germans while withdrawing along the Narva front in Estonia. Intense battle were fought between the Germans and Russians in the narrow Narva front in Estonia seeing 100,000 men killed.

It was discovered not 62 years later but back in 1944 when a small boy (Kurtna Matasjarv) saw tracks leading into the lake and noticed bubbles coming up. So why was it only uncovered now? 62 years later the same person finally told a leader of a local war history club who went to investigate.

The club dived the waters and detected it on the lake bottom covered in 3 meters of mud. They hired a bulldozer and dragged out the 30 ton tank. Not an easy feat.

Amazingly the tank emerged in perfect condition with not a spec of rust. After a little tinkering the team fired up the Diesel Engine and took it for a spin. The tank has a top speed of 53km/hr. The tank was captured by the Germans from the Russians at the battle of Sinimaed and converted into their own which is why it shows German markings.

The tank will be placed in the war history museum and fully restored. It is an extremely rare find. Not sure you will find many of these with your hobby Metal Detector.

Waterproof metal detectors in South Africa.

Keen to frollic in the waves while searching for hidden riches? Perhaps you want to wade in a lake to find lost boer war artifacts?

A waterproof Metal Detector is what you need!

Contact us here – request a quote.

Waterproof metal detector

Waterproof metal detectors for sale include the Garrett AT pro and the Garrett AT gold. These underwater metal detectors can be submerged a few feet under the water as the control box is waterproofed. Many other units like the Garrett Ace 250 or Minelab X-Terra are only waterproof up to the control box. With these you can’t submerge the control box, but you can place the coil and stem underwater. But what a bout a Diving Metal Detector? If you want to go deep underwater to dive on a shipwreck along the South African coast for example you will need one of these. The Garrett Seahunter Mark 2 or the Minelab Excalibur 2 are rated to 200 feet unerwater. These are special neutral boyancy and highly sealed units able to dive to the depths of a sea or lake. The above xplanation should give you a good indication of what’s what when it comes to a waterproof Metal Detector.
